The Lotto Booth & Cigar Corner is one of the oldest stores in the Confederation Court Mall. It’s been a popular destination for locals since the mall opened its doors back in 1979!
The shop is proudly owned by the Island Retail Group and is managed by the expert hands of Donna McCormick, who has over 35 years of retail experience. Donna started working at the Lotto Booth in 2017 as a sales clerk, and after a few years of hard work and commitment to the job, she was promoted to a managerial position in February 2021.
Donna truly enjoys working at the shop. For her, it’s the people that make her love where she works. She says the shop is notable for its regulars. Donna is on a first-name basis with most of her customers, as many have been shopping there for years. Some have been loyal to the store for as long as 15 years!
Donna noted that regulars rely on the store staff to know their preferences. That’s the part Donna likes most about working in the cozy corner shop in the mall.
“Working here and interacting with the customers, calling them by their name and really knowing them is what I like,” she shared.
The Lotto Booth & Cigar Corner is known for a wide variety of lotto tickets, cigars and scratch tickets, which Donna says are the most popular item! A few years back Donna sold a scratch ticket worth $100,000! That was a special moment for both the customer and Donna. “ It made me feel like Santa Claus,” she laughed.
When Donna has a free moment, she visits other merchants in the mall, stopping by for the occasional coffee and bagels at Kent Street Market.
